It was nearly six hundred miles from Doomstadt to this small village in what was formerly Eastern Germany, now recently annexed as a part of Latveria. Even with Doom’s transportation technology, that was still a long, long, multi-day drive. Normally, Titania was not the kind of person you’d send on a good-will mission, but Doom could not always be the one to make appearances. Besides, it was good for her to get away from battle every so often. Though he was not one to say, Titania suspected that Doom did worry about her mental health. She was his creation, so it made sense that he would ensure that she was always at her best; mentally, physically, and emotionally. Plus there was also the fact that, besides being a good-will mission, this trip was also delivering supplies and overseeing new territory on the other side of the Alps, and being able to lift a fully loaded truck with one hand was always helpful in case mechanical troubles happened. That, and the scenery was gorgeous.
Titania had grown up in the shadows of the Rockies, but while those mountains were aptly named, due to their sharp, jagged, and harsh outlines against the sky and city, the Alps looked entirely at home amongst the forests and fields dotted with wildflowers, snowcapped peaks and all. She could see why a lot of fairytales came from this area of the world. Hell, she still smiled when she saw elegant castles tucked in the valleys between two mountains or along the shores of a lake. America wasn’t a place for magical enchantments, princesses, and the such, so, like a lot of things, it was definitely an upgrade from her childhood home.
As they drove through the countryside, Titania had plenty of time to review the information of the supplies being delivered, the village it was being delivered to, and the inhabitants of any importance that lived there. Mostly it was a list of officials and people of high esteem, but it was Titania’s duty to keep an eye out for any possible sign of insurgency and resistance. Of course, she would be able to use her own discretion about handle such things, but such actions on these missions were rare on her part. Aside from all of that, one person of interest she was instructed to check up on was a young mutant that resided in the village. He’d be easy to find if his description was accurate: blue fur, yellow eyes, devil tail, unusual hands and feet, pointed ears, and fangs. No wondered he was considered to be a demon by the locals. He was young and if the reports of his teleportation powers were to be believed, Titania could understand why Doom held an interest in him. Then again, Doom held an interest for everyone under his rule.
It was nearing midday when the small convoy finally pulled into the town square. Exiting her vehicle, Titania met with the town officials before overseeing, and even assisting with, the unloading of all supplies, making sure they were delivered to the proper location and evenly distributed amongst the populace. Once those duties were finished, the mayor, a small and older man, insisted on giving her a tour. At that, Titania nodded and followed him, knowing that this was all a part of her mission.

It was a nice feeling, being able to enjoy humming the National Anthem again, and the young blue teenager wondering casually down the street was enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the day. As Kurt passed one of the older folk of the village he waved cheerfully to them and called out a friendly greeting, The old lady smiled at him, with a little hesitance. she still wasn't used to a demonic looking child walking freely around her home, and probably wouldn't ever be. but at this point the entire town was aware Kurt to be the helpful, kind lad he was and it was hard to mistrust him after getting to know him through necessity.
Glancing about to make sure he wouldn't cause anyone problems, Kurt concentrated and vanished in a BAMF of purple smoke, reappearing in an identical cloud in the branches of a large tree nearby, he nimbly jumped from one beam of wood to the next, sometimes using his tail to swing from branch to branch. "May the crowd raise their hands for the INCREDABLE NIGHTCRAWLER!!!" Kurt said as he swung, imaging himself in a circus tent, a crowd applauding his death defying stunt of bravery. He let himself fall and span twice before landing perfectly and giving a bow to his imaginary onlookers, chuckling happily.
Kurt heard a familiar clearing of the throat and looked up to see the Mayor, with a long suffering expression and besides him the tallest woman Kurt had ever seen in his life. Being escorted by the Mayor.... so someone of importance. Oh dears. "......" Kurt stared at both of them, his eyes darting as he tried to think of a way out of this. after an akward moment he decided on simply smiling up at the woman. "Ta-da?"
it wasn't like he could make things worse after all.

The village was quite lovely, actually; rather peaceful given the circumstances of the country not too long ago. Titania wondered if it retained its idyllic nature through the entirety of the war. She took in the scenery as the mayor led her on the tour. He pointed out anything that he thought would be important, whether it was to her, him, or for Doom and his interests. As they neared a large tree, Titania stopped upon hearing two sounds.
She stopped, trying to identity what it could be. It certainly wasn't gunfire. No one would be stupid enough to try and shoot her. The bullets would just ricochet off her skin harmlessly. They were both the same noise; something like a small explosion or a care backfiring with the only difference being the second noise was much closer. The smell of rotten eggs wafted towards her and movement in the tree caught her attention. Children with stink bombs? But surely their parents would have told them that the visitors weren’t the enemy. Walking towards the tree, the figure above became more clear. It was fast and nimble, moving among the branches like a monkey. It even had a tail like one. The only difference was that it spoke and, before long, landed in front of them, facing away, but still revealing itself to be a human of sorts, not a monkey.
Blue fur, a devil’s tail, and unusual hands and feet. That’s what this young boy had, and he clearly had to be the individual Lord Doom sent her to check in on. When the mayor cleared his throat, the young mutant realized he wasn’t alone and gave them both an embarrassed look. While her tour guide was clearly disapproving of this activity, Titania couldn’t help but look at the young man with a mixture of confusion and amusement. The boy’s smile revealed fangs and, despite the odd yellow eyes and pointed ears, Titania thought he was sort of cute looking. Definitely something out of a fairy tale.
His ’ta-da’ was what got a chuckle out of her. She finally applauded the boy, figuring that if she didn’t, the mayor would tan his hide for interrupting his little tour. “That was impressive and entertaining. You must be Kurt Wagner. I am Titania. Grand General to Lord Doom and the Armies of the Empire of Latveria,” she told him, extending a gloved hand towards the boy. “Did you know we were visiting today? Is that why you decided to put on this little performance?” While Titania wasn’t normally one to stick her neck out for strangers, this was just a child having fun, something she used to do, so she wasn’t about to let him be punished for that.

Of all the things he expected, Kurt didn't ever see it coming that any official looking person would ever laugh! or applaud which was even more shocking, leaving Kurt slightly confused but grinning from ear to pointed ear in pride that She liked it. "Thank you Miss." Kurt said politely as he straightened back up, being confused once again at her knowing his name.... although really the most basic description of him beforehand would give away who he was.
"I am indeed Miss Titania. It is very nice to meet you." The GRAND GENERAL?!?! Kurt went from polite but friendly, to eyes like dinner plates and something akin to awe on his face. That was so so much more then he had expected, and it went without saying he was impressed. "I.. had no idea of course. I mean.. everyone would have had far more important things to do with preparation then tell me about it." He explained, tripping over his words in his hurry to answer her and continue the conversation with the GRAND GENERAL, it blew his mind every time he thought about it.
The question of why he had been doing everything made him smile bashfully and shake his head. "it is just fun Miss. There is something I can not help loving about how it feels to be so high up and yet able to feel safe." He didn't know if that was a good explanation or not, but it was honest, and the truth, so he expected it to be good enough. He took in just how tall Titania was, as well as the name and her position and felt like he dared to ask. "err.... is it true you have gifts as well Miss? it is simply that I have heard rumours in newspapers and have never seen someone else with powers, except for when I met Lord Doom..."

Kurt’s reaction was a bit unexpected. Actually, it was very unexpected. One would have thought that by the uniform Titania was wearing, he would have known who she was. Admittedly, this outfit was no her full dress uniform, so it lacked the medals and distinctions, but it should have still managed to do its job identifying her. But then the boy’s explanation shed plenty of light upon the situation. He hadn’t been told about Titania’s planned visit. Was it due to his appearance? From what she had read, the townspeople had accepted Kurt, at least for the most part, but upon looking over at the mayor, whose expression was one that was less than pleased from seeing the young mutant, it wasn’t hard to guess that he wasn’t entirely integrated as a member of this society. That soured Titania’s mood. She was all too familiar with being on the outside of everything. She wondered how much ridicule Kurt had gone through.
“The rumors are true, yes,” Titania told him. “Lord Doom rewards those who are faithful to him and serve him well. As for what I can do?” The tall woman looked around, searching for something she could use to show off her strength. Unlike in other areas, where she could easily pick something and destroy it to her heart’s content, this village was under Doom’s protection and therefore she had to behave and cause a minimal level of destruction, preferably none. Whether it was a good thing or not, the village was still in the process of recovering from the recent war and whatever skirmishes HYDRA still caused even after Germany had surrendered. Buildings had been gutted and a few were in the midst of repair. Loose bricks had been salvaged and stacked nearby, and there were piles clearly distinguishing what could be saved and what couldn’t.
There was also the remains of an enemy tank nearby. It had been firebombed during the course of a battle and let to rust where it fell. The townspeople had removed what they could, but without the proper tools to dismantle it, the armored vehicle shell just sat there. Removing her military jacket and handing it to the mayor, Titania made her way over to the remains of the tank. She assessed it first, looking to see if there was any reason to keep it intact and return it to Doom. Finding none, she grabbed the barrel of the turret and yanked it off in one easy motion. Though it felt a bit cliched, Titania took a page out of Bugs Bunny’s book and tied the gun barrel into a knot. She then started to break apart of the body of the tank before stopping and realizing the mess she’d be making. Instead, she lifted the entirety of the tank up and carried it out of the square and into a nearby vacant field where it could be properly dismantled and removed.
Returning to the mayor and the young mutant, Titania noted a bent over wrought-iron fence. She stopped and took the time to straighten the iron rods to their original shape. “Has my demonstration been enough for you, Herr Wagner? I’m afraid I can’t do much else, not without reckless violence and risking injury to innocent bystanders.” Showing off her strength was one thing, but her invulnerability? There wasn’t a safe way to do that.

Kurt smiled when his question was answered with what he had been hoping she would say. To his young mind the explanation was exciting, it was like something from a fantasy novel the wise king bestowing gifts upon those who made great accomplishments. King Arthur handing out magical swords or a Pirate Captain making someone First Mate.
The teen had no idea what to expect when she approached the tank, something that had been there for as long as he could remember. For the most part it was just something kids played on and were immediately told off by their parents for going near in fear it may be dangerous. Silly kids and sharp metal edges were bad, the possibility some munitions missed by the adults of the town checking it over was much worse. Kurt personally found it ugly, as he did every memory of how terrible the war had been.
"err Miss?" Kurt said slowly as he followed after her, "you do not have to worry about demonstrating I did not mean to put you out." He said, not wanting to feel like he'd been pestering her or anything of that sort. he was about to carry on talking when suddenly the barrel of the tank was removed. by her bare hands. Kurt came to a dead halt and stared in awe at the ease in which she demolished an entire tank like it was nothing to her. It was amazing to watch, something so impossible made effortless and almost eloquent in the simplicity.
He'd always known other superhumans existed, especially after meeting Lord Doom. but the sharp reminder of such did nothing but reassure Kurt that this was indeed the world outside the village, he was not some strange unique occurrence and he most certainly was not alone It was an odd feeling, to have your existence reassured in front of your eyes, but a good one.
"I.. that..." Kurt was smiling widely when she returned, laughing when the fence was the added bonus on top. "that was amazing! remarkable! I had no idea it was possible to be this strong!" Kurt realised he was gushing nnd roped himself back in with a shy expression. "thank you. Really, that was something I am not likely to forget." he said, trying to be as nice as possible when it was clear Titania had only done it for his entertainment. "It was more then enough yes. where abouts in the village are you heading next Miss? Perhaps I could accompany you?" he asked hopefully, finding her to be one of the most interesting people he'd ever met.

The boy was a mish-mash of traits; both polite and energetic, as well as apologetic and almost shy. Titania thought that she could detect a slight lack of confidence, something she was familiar when she was his age. Even with his protests, she still was going to do a little demonstration, if only to reinforce her own power, as well as Doom’s. Naturally, providing food and supplies would be enough to maintain loyalty to Latveria, but there was quite a distance between this tiny village and Doomstadt. Seeing her act, as well as having the knowledge of what Doom could do for those faithful to him, just sweetened the pot a bit more. Who knew how many children, or young men and women, had dreams of being like Captain America or the rest of The Howling Commandos and all the rest of those ‘super’ types. It also had a way of showing what could happen if they decided to cross Doom. It was a rare occurrence, but it sometimes happened.
Seeing Kurt react to her strength made Titania smirk and feel good about this whole trip, which was definitely a plus since she would be staying in the village for at least one night, perhaps longer should Lord Doom wish it. “You weren’t putting me out when you asked about my abilities, Kurt,” Titania reassured him. “I like using them. I like showing off. Having this much strength is one of the few good things in my life. Just like how I’m sure you enjoy having your abilities. If that bit of gymnastics in the tree was any indication,” she said with a smile. He was an odd boy, this little elf, but she may have started to appreciate him, maybe even like him.
“Being this strong does have its advantages.” She started to tell Kurt about some of the difficulties she encountered soon after getting these powers, but thought better of it. The mayor didn’t need to hear such things. “I actually am not sure where we are going next. I was just having your mayor show me around and give me a bit of a history lesson on your hometown. Do you have any suggestions of where to go? And yes, of course you can accompany us. In fact, I would very much like to get to know you better, Mr. Wagner. If that is all right.”

Kurt regained a visible amount of enthusiasm from the reassurances, shaking off his sudden bout of nerves. "That is a relief." He said, his smile coming to him easily. It wasn't that he was scared of Titania, she was obviously a friendly enough person he didn't have to be worried. plus she was one of Dooms men and Kurt was used to that coming with a level of respectability. So instead it was the fact very few people were this normal when talking to him, she didn't stare or seem disturbed or try to hide disgust, and it meant the world to Kurt to have an introduction to someone that felt normal. so the last thing he wanted was to upset or offend her in a way that'd make her stop liking him.
The teen nodded at the rest of her words. "i know exactly what you mean Miss. It is fun to be able to just push myself and see how much I can do." The bit about showing off was surprising to hear someone admit and Kurt laughed, "That too yes... although an audience can either make me do better or worse depending on how much concentration I need to pull a stunt off." Kurt let himself imagine what he would do with super strength and pictured himself carrying Mr Wards horse on his shoulder down the street. it was absurd and silly and something Titania could totally do, which made her extremely cool in the boys eyes.
"well.... there is the Church, which is where I live, there are the different farms if you wish to see our food production." Kurt gave the two easiest options without having to think. "we have a Bakers, butchers. couple other shops in the town square but that's where you came from.... so probably not the best suggestion. we used to have a tank as kind of a landmark, but there's a small scrapyard that just opened at its spot." as he waited for Titania to suggest which of those limited options appealed to her the most he considered the possibility this amazing person had been at least in part told to look out for him. she knew his name before he'd given it, and now wanted to ask him questions. which was fine with him, it meant Lord Doom remembered him and that alone made Kurts day almost as much as the sight of the tank being demolished.
"Of cause Miss. I will be happy to get to know you as well. it is a nice day for such pleasantries after all."

“You are a flighty little thing, Kurt,” she told the boy, gently laying a hand on his shoulder. “Am I the first person with powers that you’ve properly met?” In all likelihood, that was probably the case. Outside of Lord Doom when he first came through this area, due to the ‘small town feel’ this village had, it was reasonable to think that Kurt did not know any other mutants, probably having laid his eyes on another being like him for much of his life. His hometown would always judge him, no matter what. Titania knew that Doom wanted to make an impression on the young man, and it was evident that such a thing was already happening, but there was something more she could do.
Turning to the mayor, she waved him off. “I wish to continue the tour of your city with Herr Wagner. Alone.” The man started to protest, but she held up a hand. “I am not shirking my responsibilities, your honor. Nor am I declining tonight’s meal in your homestead. I simply wish to tour the city with one of the more impoverished residents. With your presence, he may be reluctant to share all that this town needs, which would be bad, for we know how generous Lord Doom is to those in need. On my next visit, with this young man's help, I may be bringing more than just food and supplies.” Titania subtly rubbed her first two fingers together with her thumb, giving the international sign for money. Almost immediately, the mayor’s eyes lit up and he nodding, understanding, before leaving the two of them alone. “Now we are alone and can talk freely,” she told the young mutant. “Do you understand what I mean? We can talk not as peasant mutant boy and Doom’s Grand General, but as Kurt Wagner and… Titania.” She was almost tempted to tell him her birth name, but that would likely raise more questions. Instead, she removed the bobby pins from her bun and shook out her long mane of strawberry-blonde hair. “Easy, right?”
“I want you to show me around. Show me what interests you. Not just pleasantries and places important to the town. Any mayor can do that. You wouldn’t believe how many town halls and governmental buildings I have seen. But, I don’t know the people. I don’t know you. I will be honest, Kurt. Lord Doom has an interest in you. You are special. A fact that you clearly know already, both by your appearance and teleporting abilities. But, he is particular about his chosen few. Some look the part, but are a horrible fit in other ways. Convince me that you are a well-rounded boy and I could try to convince my lord to let you visit Doomstadt as a guest,” she smiled. Yes, this was a bit underhanded, but you gained more flies with honey than vinegar. This boy had potential, and it was that potential which interested Doom. Better to have him as a potential ally and a part of the Latverian army or special forces than to let other people and governments snatch him up. “So, please, tell me about yourself. I can do the same. We’ll alternate questions and answers. Deal?”

Kurt had never been called 'flighty' before. He supposed that it would be fun to be able to fly around, and briefly entertained the thought of zooming in circles above the town. but he would find it no easier trying to fit in with a set of wings attached to his already odd appearance so he dismissed the idea as probably pushing his already strained luck. "I do not mean to be." he said, almost apologising, though for what even he wasn't positive. "you are. there is not many visitors here as it is, so it is even more unlikely for there to be other mutants amongst the few that come."
Until now, that had not been something to think about, Kurt knew he wasn't the only Mutant, and for all the whispers that he was a freak, he had always held to the reassurance that he was simply part of some new unveiling direction Gods plan had taken. it was not always enough to comfort him on its own but it was the little things like that which helped. but he considered how it was indeed nice meeting someone new who did not totally fit in. like him.
The teenage boy watched with something akin to awe as Titania was able to so easily play his Mayor like a fiddle. The Mayor was of course the most permanent form of authority figure he had known in his life, so it was no small thing to see the General so effortlessly show just how much she outranked him. Kurt had to put every bit of his willpower into not smiling at the display as the Mayor considered him before leaving. he was not a bad man and there was no reason to be seen disrespecting him like that after all.
It was, however, a little surprising she wanted to talk to him alone and even more so when she spoke as if respecting him on something close to that as equals. especially when the conversation she had just had was taken into consideration. "I believe I do, Miss." Kurt nodded as she unclipped her hair. "easy." he agreed, thinking that yes it had actually been quite easy to carry a conversation with her.
Lord Doom was interested in him? HIM? Kurt stared at Titania as if waiting for the punch line, or explanation of how that didn't actually mean what it so clearly meant. Because that just wasn't something that ever happened to him. he was used to people trying to pretend he didn't exist whenever they could. not... not this. so when she made her somewhat sly suggestions of what he might be able to get, Kurt tripped over himself to go along with things, suddenly beaming.
"I. yes absolutely I can do that Miss! I mean, err, deal. yes." He said, nodding far too rapidly and forcing himself to stop before he started looking odd. "If you wish, we could start by visiting-" he trailed off trying to decide where to go first, es she said she wanted to see where he liked in the town but the problem with that was how even though he now had free roam of the town, he was so often more comfortable in places where he could be on his own. as a result his favourite places were not the most interesting parts of the town, but the most secluded. but that had been what she'd asked for so who was he to argue.
Kurt turned towards one of the pathways leading out of town and gestured politely. "i could show you the riverbanks? or at least the part most worth seeing if you would like?" He asked, not wanting to make any assumptions. "you can ask your first question as we go."

“You are still a teenager, Kurt. You’re allowed to be flighty,” Titania told him before shaking her head at his assumption. “I’m not a mutant, Mr. Wagner. I wasn’t born with these abilities. Hence why I phrased my question the way I did. But…. I’ll be honest, I’ve not encountered that many super powered people while here. While anywhere, really.” Not that she had been much of a world traveler. But then again, she had gone further than anyone else in her family had, so that was saying something.
Titania had thought that, without the mayor being present, Kurt would have relaxed and been more at ease. However, it seemed to have done the exact opposite, or in the very least, her remained the same as he was. Truth be told, she was at a bit of a disadvantage with trying to talk to the boy and she wasn’t entirely sure why that was the case. She hadn’t been the most social of butterflies growing up, preferring to keep to herself and read rather than be around friends, not that she had many. But this shouldn’t have been the case with the boy. After all, he looked up to her and Lord Doom, but here she was trying her damnedest to relate to him, and unsuccessfully too. “The riverbanks sound delightful, Kurt.” At least there they would have some privacy.
As they walked, Titania kept her pace at a leisurely stroll, letting it match his. Normally, s he was always one to walk a little fast or with a purpose, which usually ended with her walking faster than the rest of her group, so it was a conscious effort to remain at her companion’s speed. "Has the village been treating you well? I know that you have spent much of your life here, correct? The church is well provided for in its care for you?” All right, so that was technically three questions, but they were all interlaced, so surely the boy would not think she was trying to game the system by asking him so many things at once, right?
