Powers: -Healing factor. X-23's primary mutant power is an accelerated healing factor that enables her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an
ordinary human. She is capable of fully healing injuries resulting in massive tissue damage and blood loss such as multiple bullet wounds, slash wounds, and puncture wounds within a matter of
minutes. Her healing factor is developed to such a degree, she is capable of reattaching severed limbs, such as a hand
-stamina. X-23's muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the muscles of an ordinary human. She can exert herself at peak capacity for about 24 hours
before fatigue begins to impair her.

can't and to hear sounds that ordinary humans can, but at much greater distances. X-23 is able to use her highly developed sense of smell to track targets by scent with an impressive degree

Personality: Outwardly, Laura comes across as cold, withdrawn, and antisocial. Preferring to distance herself from conversations and abandoning social activities to be alone. Laura is not good at being a conversationalist, finding it hard to know what to say or do. While it all seems to point towards someone that doesn't like people, the reality is that Laura simply does not know how to be normal. All of her antisocial treats stem from her own flaws rather then her opinion of others. While she lives on instinctive that tell her to be violent and without mercy, Laura is very slowly trying to rebuild herself into a half decent person.
While it is a very difficult thing for her, Laura IS capable of making friends, and is loyal to a fault to people she cares for, willing to go to any length and throw herself into any kind of danger for people she's close to.
On that note, is the fact Laura is borderline suicidal in her total disregard for her own life. Laura sees herself as X-23 the weapon, not Laura the human being. As a result she genuinely holds the opinion that her life has no particular value and while she has no desire to die she does not fear it either. This has led her to be far less careful then she should be in dangerous situations, and would have got her killed years ago if not for her healing factor.
Laura's deepest fear is loosing control of herself, and is likely to either panic or over react if she thinks she's in danger of being forced to do things she doesn't want to.
History: Weapon X was a group of people that had looked at Captain America and came to the conclusion "wouldn't it be great if WE had one of those?" congratulating themselves even while everyone else on earth had the exact same thought in their head. To that end the idea was set forth, after studying how Mutant genes lasted amongst family members, to kidnap the young children from families who were known to have metahumans in immediate relation.
The Twenty third child identified as a potential candidate was a girl named Laura. Her brother Logan being of a powerclass that would be incredibly advantageous as an operative. So she was stolen away in the dead of night at the age of one.
Training did not truly begin until she was five. But once it did, it was intense and unrelenting. Her entire childhood was a constant imprint of learning things children had no reason to be learning. How to fight, how to infiltrate, and assassinate and kill. The people running the Project were cruel and uncaring to all the children, except for one Doctor, Sarah Kinney, who did what she could to be kind when she could get away with it. Which was not often.
After ten years and no results due to the fact mutant powers do not activate until later in life, the pressure was mounting for results. After consideration, they decided X-23's relation to someone with a healing factor made her far more likely to survive extreme measures then any of the others. And with the number of children they had, one of them was potentially expendable.
So they strapped the ten year old to a gurney and pelted her with radiation, fully accepting she might die, only Kinney trying to say it should not be done and being ignored. Through the agony of the situation and the closeness to death, X-23's powers activated and she survived.
This made her the most important of the X's. As the only superhuman operative they had now, she was suddenly given focus and accelerated training. By the time she was twelve, they were sending her on missions. Across north America more then twenty people were killed by a child, someone they would never expect to be a threat.When she was sixteen, those of the other Children who were mutants had activated. Out of the thirty X's, only six of them were mutants and therefore worth something to Weapon X. The rest were disposed of unceremoniously.
And that was when Sarah Kinney could not take it any longer. The next time she was alone with the six, she tried to get through to them that they had to leave, and did everything she could to convince them to come with her and use their powers to escape. X-23 three of the others were willing to go along with this. The other two reacted the way they had been taught to and attacked them. X-23 killed one of them and the other fell to her fellow turncoats, but only after taking X-16 down with them.
With troops coming and the base on full alert Sarah told the three weapons still alive what their first names had actually been, and promised she'd look after them once they escaped. In reality only the newly renamed Laura made it out alive the three other mutants and Sarah dying in the ensuing fight, even though the X's managed to wipe out the entire base by working together. Indeed Laura's ability to heal was the only reason she made it either. She took Sarah's surname for no reason other then it was the only one she could think of the first time she was asked.
Completely alone and with no purpose in life Laura Kinney drifted aimlessly. Going south for no reason other then it was the furthest place from the area she'd suffered in. And out of sheer tenacity Weapon X tracked her down again anyway. In the middle of the night, several men came for her. They had been woefully unprepared, in fact only one of them had even been briefed on her powers.
she butchered her way through all but two of them like they weren't there, wounded another badly across the face and then...... then he helped her. was the first person in her life that did something for no reason other then to help, even Sarah had been motivated by her guilt (at least that's how Laura remembered it.) so when he let her kill the operative and offered her safety, she took it.
The next few years were a period of time where Laura genuinely had a life worth living. it turned out that man, who went by Artie, soon ended up rich and powerful, and he gave her the purpose of being so useful to doing it. Laura had a mind for planning attacks, how to weaken the enemy and strengthen your own side. And while Artie tended to do well on his own, he would let her go out and do something if she was convinced it'd help. and it usually would result in a success. And at the same time, Artie and Laura found comfort in each other, him being the closest to family she had ever had. while she didn't call him Father in conversation, sticking to his real name of Arthur , it was what she described him as to others when they asked, and she never felt like she was telling anything but the truth.
Recently, after Laura reached 18 and was able to legally own property, Artie put her in charge of his bar, a job she took on board seriously and has been giving her all ever since.
