Peggy stood there looking out the window as the airship hummed over the New York, everyone who was someone was here and having dinner in the skies above the city. The restaurant was on the middle deck of three and was not small by any means. This had been the maiden voyage and was promised as a glimpse to the future by a man claiming to bring hope to New York. Top of the range restaurant for those who could afford it. Peggy could only dream of affording a starter let alone a main course here, she barely got by on the wage she had and even with the extras for her undercover work. But she was here for work and not for fun. As a police officer Peggy would not of got far on board, but as a waitress called Beth she had a better chance of getting around unnoticed and have more freedom. Off the record the police had no business for been here, but her chief had reasons to believe something was up and who was she to question him. He had never let her down and was rarely wrong. The waitress uniform was not to her taste, a glimmering red mine skirt and waist coat over a white blouse. Then there was the blond wig with hight heels. As people buzzed around taking orders of the rich and famous. Peggy lifted the tray she held and made her way towards the kitchen while grabbing some empty wine glasses to look busy. Security was tight and they were clearly making themselves noticed. As she entered the kitchen she noticed a door to the back of the kitchen which held a symbol of the stairs upon it. What ever was going on had to be down stairs, up stair were the quarters and this deck the restaurant. It only made sense what ever was going on was down the stairs. Out of nowhere a hand grabbed her arm, "Hot buns," the over weight chef cried as he took the tray she held and jammed another one in her hand,"Take this soup down to the radio operator," "I ain't baking these hips for you," It was more than just looking the part, she needed to act the part and that was what she did, putting on a deeper New York accent she gave a comment to put him in his place, " With that belly of yours I'm wondering how many buns you stuck up your you know who," Before he could reply a fit of laughter rang among the chefs as Peggy lifted the tray high and sung the hips towards the stairs door. Making her way down the stairs she passed two security men who waved her by, unknown to Peggy one of the guards had personal approved all staff and he did not recognise her. As she reached the end of the stairs she made her way down the corridor to where the radio room was located. What she noticed was pipes that ran under the metal grated floor which played hell with her shoes that lead to a room opposite the radio room. Slowly she opened the door and taking a peak through she noticed a room filled with barrels with a toxic symbol painted upon them. Two men in bio suits could be seen pouring the barrels into a pipe and just as she was about to enter to investigate a voice spoke from behind her. "Hay, sweetbuns I'm over here," Peggy turned as a men in a black uniform grabbed the tray right her hand ,"Not the brightest spark are you. Radio rooms over here." She was half tempted to put him in his place but instead she just gave a bimbo laugh as she curled her hair with her finger. The man turned and went back into his radio room placing his tray beside him. But before Peggy could do anything a voice from the opposite end of the corridor gave out a shout. "Stop her," a security guard spoke, "She's a spy," As the radio man quickly turned to see the commotion, her foot was ready as it hit the man right in the groin sending him down and as he fell she grabbed him by the collar throwing him out the door. As security ran towards her she ducked into the radio room. Closing the door she jammed the chair under the handle to prevent the door from opening. Something was in the works aboard the airship, just what she wasn't sure and she needed to get the warning out. To radio the police would be of little help, they would have no way of getting up here but there was one frequency that may help. Grabbing the mic while turning the dial she pressed the button and spoke hoping to god for a white knight was there. "Request assistant, I repeat request assistant, I am stationed over New York in the Airship Balgord Dream I...." Before Peggy could finish a gas sprayed from under the door and put her out like a light in seconds. With her hand still holding the button she fell to the ground pulling the radio with her. Tens minutes later Peggy awoke on the ledge at the back of the airship been held by two men overlooking the city below. Like all missions before this had been a solo one and backup had not been planned. Even if it had she could see no way of how they could reach her her. "What goes up, must come down," A voice spoke from behind as their hand was placed at the back of Peggy's shoulder ready to push her over, "You should of kept your nose out of are business," Tag Captain Midnight

"Request assistant, I repeat request assistant, I am stationed over New York in the Airship Balgord Dream I...."
Ichabod 'Ikky' Mudd practically fell out of his seat as the emergency message crackled out over the radio. He quickly threw aside his comic book and grabbed the microphone trying to respond. A few minutes of silence passed, leaving him turning knobs and swapping plugs trying to check the signal before a male voice came back on the line.
"Sorry about that. One of the guests got drunk and we caught her playing around with the radio. Over."
"Oh..yeah, I know what that's like. You guys have a good day up there. Over."
Obviously it was horse hockey. Nobody called the emergency frequency for a Secret Squadron receiver by accident or as a prank, nevermind the fact that the frequency was given to police, fire fighters, medics and other rescue workers for calling in airborne assistance (during the war the alert emergency services had called in Squadron fighters when New York was attacked by such threats as the Teutonic Knights airship). Something was wrong on the airship and there was a good chance that the first caller was in trouble, asking the second caller might even spook the people behind whatever was going on and lead to the deaths of anyone onboard. For now Ikky re-tuned the radio set to call up his boss. Hopefully he had one of his faster planes ready for takeoff.
The Fireball jetted across the skyline, keeping a safe distance away from the Balgord Dream. One of Albright Industries newest projects, a long and slender jet plane with an observation area built into the middle of the fuselage. While Chuck Ramsey was in the pilot seat Jim Albright was using a mounted telescope to monitor the airship for anything out of place.
"The guests are enjoying themselves, but something is going on at the rear. They're opening the cargo ramp and....good God. Prepare for flyover Chuck. Give them a little shakeup then call in an apology."
"Right away Cap."
Jim grabbed his belt and cowl, suiting up to become Captain Midnight. He made his way further up the plane before lying down on a rotating panel built into the deck. Once over the airship Midnight hit a release switch, flipping the panel and himself onto the outside of the Fireball so that he could drop into mid air. With a sweep of his arms his glider wings deployed, allowing him to control his decent and turn into the open rear of the blimp. The Fireball rushing overhead would give the airship a minor shakeup, but Chuck was already calling in an apology and a phony story about mix ups in the flight plans. The guests might have a few spilled drinks but no injuries and the criminals onboard would hopefully remain unaware of their incoming stowaway.
Another sweep of his arms slowed him down suddenly, allowing him to bring his legs up and kick the two men holding the waitress. They were thrown back by the sheer power of the impact granted by the momentum of his entry. As Midnight hit the deck he used one hand to throw out a gas pellet and the other to secure the hostage.
"Sleep tight fellas."
The gas knocked out the two assailants before they could resume their attack, while the rushing air from the open door dissipated the chemical before it could overcome Midnight or Peggy. As he pulled her away from the open door he pulled a nearby lever to close it before pulling some spare cable from his belt to bind the two men. A handkerchief from their pockets made a secure gag so that they couldn't alert any allies to their plight when they woke up.
"Sorry about the delay. Captain Midnight." He saluted. "What seems to be the problem Miss?"

Peggy was done, playing waitress, it was time for The lady in Red to step forward and take action but at the present time that action was unavailable. Peggy would of wanted to take her mask out and be the lady in Red. Keeping her identity a secret kept alot of attention off her chief and family. It was one thing to put herself into danger and another to place others. But Captain Midnight with others aboard this ship had seen her face and she was searched coming aboard so taken items aboard had not been possible. But one thing she was sure of was that she was more than great full to having a saving grace,
"Delay!" Peggy snigered,"I'd call that perfect timing and I regret to inform you ain't even started yet. By the way it's Peggy and I'm with the police."
Reaching into one of the now sleeping men's pockets, Peggy took a Luger handgun with ammunition out and as she to next sleeping man it was also a Luger. Standing up she preformed a quick check of the guns as she spoke.
"I was ask to investigate this voyage," with one gun checked she placed the safety on and placed it into her waist coat pocket, she continued to speak as she checked the second gun,"Before I took a hundred winks I manged to spot a room below full of drums containing a green liquid, it must of been deadly to human touch as they were wearing protective suits and I'm guessing by these Luger's it ain't looking good."
No sooner had Peggy stood up did a whistle sound out, than another and another. With that the airship completed a tight starboard turn heading right for downtown.
"That ain't good," Peggy spoke.
Than came a burst of gunfire from the starboard side at the plane that had transported Captain Midnight and aloud roar of the engine signed the Airship was picking up speed.

"So you're with the NYPD. That's how you knew about the emergency frequency."
The woman was clearly ready to help, arming herself with enemy weapons while briefing Midnight with all the information she'd gathered before the crewmen attempted to do away with her. Luger handguns meant that this was potentially an opponent that was allied with or supported the Axis forces, chemical weapons meant that there was a major attack planned and the chemical suits meant that whoever they were they weren't martyrs to their cause (additionally it meant that there was little chance that any of them were superhuman, or at least not the kind that could resist chemical weapons). Midnight put all the pieces together in his head, formulating a plan of attack. Then the gunfire from above and the sudden turn forced his hand.
"Chuck. Back off and keep safe. These guys are twitchy and they might do something stupid if provoked. Organise a landing zone outside the city and prepare a decontamination team."
"Loud and clear Cap. Keep safe."
The Fireball jetted off elsewhere. If the villains had any sense they'd know that an aircraft that got fired on would report the attack at the nearest airport, so they knew they were on a timetable. However the plane backing away from the airship would hopefully calm them down slightly to prevent them using their poison until they reached their primary target. The Captain fished around his pockets for some useful items, presenting Peggy with a pair of gloves and a small mask with an attached air supply.
"I can't carry a full chemical suit with me, but these should provide some protection. Can you show me where the poison is?"
He drew what was known as his 'Doom beam' from another part of his belt, a weapon that looked like a flashlight but instead projected a short range heat beam. As he passed through the door into the next corridor he caught sight of a group of gunmen keeping watch out the windows with their own Lugers. A quick flash of the heat beam disarmed them, either by scalded hands, cooked off ammo or ignited sleeves causing them to drop their guns. Before they could recover Captain Midnight lunged forwards, engaging in a close quarters brawl. Between the width of the corridor and the villains grouping close together the Captain had the advantage.

As the Captain took on the men, Peggy placed the guns in the rim of her mini skirt and gave a quick fix to her wig. With a quick fix then to her waist coat, she regretted wearing high heels, not the most ideal footwear for an assignment like this and sadly not something she could change at the moment at present. Standing behind the Captain she placed the two guns back into her hands and was ready to take action. As the heels clicked, Peggy let off a round into one of their shoulders sending him down to the ground. Her aim was precise and a it was deadly. As she stood over the wounded man she took the butt of the gun and knocked him over the head unconscious.
Like a lady Peggy clicked her heels down the corridor as if a movie star and kept one gun pointed ahead while the second gun trailed in the doors as she passed not wanting to be surprised. Stopping at the main corridor door she turned back to the Captain,
"When your ready," Peggy said cool and calmly, "Were on the top floor, we need to get to the bottom and inbetween us is everybody who is somebody in New York."
Turning back to the door Peggy stood to the side of the door as she opened it, half expecting a surprised attack and instead she heard voices in the distance.
"We have host..." c
Over a speak a voice spoke in a cold and dark tone over Peggy's
"AMERICAN ENFORCER WE KNOW YOUR HERE, WE HAVE HOSTAGES OF YOUR RICH AND FAMOUS, TELL YOUR FLYBOYS TO STAY AWAY OR WE DROP HOSTAGES OUT THE NEAREST DOOR." A snigger of laughter went across the speaker," YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES TO SURRENDER,"
Peggy turned back to the Captain and raised her eyebrows hoping he had a plan.

'Surrender or we kill innocents', the usual strategy of the villains. Of course the Captain wasn't going to risk the lives of civilians, but the ultimatum laid before him had enough loopholes in it to formulate his own counter plan. After closing his eyes he took a few deep breaths before making a low trilling noise, a focusing technique that he'd learned from a fellow genius. The factors against him were chemical weapons, mobile aircraft, no chance of bringing along an evacuation vehicle without attracting gunfire and a time limit. The factors for him included the ten men that had been neutralised, the criminals lack of immunity to their own poison, the time limit suggesting they wanted to get back on track quickly and the airship leaving them no easy escape option. Plus the very obvious part...
"They only addressed me, so they don't know that you're working against them too. I'm going to turn myself in, but while I'm doing that I need you to start sabotaging. They haven't released their poison yet so they have a target in mind. So start with the engines or the steering, jam it, wreck it, just as long as they can't correct their course. After that see if you can get to those chemical barrels you told me about and try to identify what's in them. Labels, delivery method, even colour and consistency might help. Just keep that mask I gave you handy. If things get out of hand before we can meet up again cut open a few gas bags. They might call off the attack if they can't keep high enough to evade the poison. Depends how dedicated they are."
He handed over a few extra items. A few blackout bombs, the smoke could cover her in a fight or be used to fake a fire, plus his boot knife just in case she needed a silent weapon.
"Good luck officer."
With that he headed towards the public areas of the airship, following the signs to the dining gondola. His beam torch was tucked in his belt at an odd angle and his hands were in sight at all times to avoid spooking any guards and causing a shootout. A gunman carrying an MP40 met him halfway and silently ordered him to walk ahead. The dining area was being used to corral the hostages, all of them forced to kneel against either side of the area and leave the middle clear.
"Captain Midnight. Very noble of you to surrender."
"and you'd be the one in charge of all this?"
"I'm sorry if you were expecting the full details of my plan, but your interference has put me behind schedule. I'll leave you in capable hands for now."
The leader gestured for his inner circle to follow him out of the dining area, leaving the machine gunner and one other to guard the Captain and the hostages. Midnight kept his hands raised for now, getting a read on their positions just before his plan went into play.
Fwoosh!
Suddenly part of the carpet caught fire, distracting the two guards for a fatal split second. A fist swinging backwards shattered the nose of one assailant while a flick of the wrist released a throwing knife from the Captain's sleeve, striking the other man in the throat before he could raise his gun. With both men dead Midnight claimed the machine gun and stamped out the fire, ordering any other police officers among the hostages to claim the sidearms of the deceased and guard the room. Before he headed back into the main airship one of the hostages spluttered out a question on how he'd managed his seemingly miraculous distraction.
"I turned my heat beam onto a lower setting before I put it away. It was harmless while I was moving but when I stood still for a minute it had time to work on one spot of the floor." He switched off the torch like device now that it wasn't needed. "Now if you'll excuse me I have to catch up with the man who thinks he's in charge."
"It doesn't make sense." The mayor paced back and forth as the other hostages recovered. "The man leading those thugs....That was city councilman Hanson."

No sooner had Peggy been handed the items did she hand them back, her pockets barely held the gun ammunition and she was sure there be little room for anything else.
"Thanks but these pockets ain't made to hold junk," with that she handed them back. "Truth be told, I'm more of a roscoe type of gal."
With a smile Peggy turned and with the guns ready made her way down the corridor. Taking ones time was not a option at the moment, the situation was going down hill fast and she needed to prevent any harm going to be attempted on her City. With her guns pointed forward Peggy turned a corner at the precise time two men armed with MP.40's also turned a corner at the far end of the corridor. Without waiting for a second and with guns already pointed she let off two shots from both guns. One of men dropped to the ground with a fatal wound as the second dived for cover behind the corner. No sooner had he dived for cover did he let off a round from his sub machine gun. She hadn't time to sit around and with that she made a dash towards an open door further up the corridor hoping for a greater firing position. Then she waited till he popped out again and this time she was ready as one of her bullets hit him straight to the hand. The second shot was to the shoulder and third to his leg as he fell backwards from the second shot.
Peggy stood tall as she continued her way up the corridor and as she past the men she took there MP.40 and a small ammunition pouch. She all so took one of the men's gun holders which she attached the pouch to as placed it around her hips. Placing one gun in the holder, she place the second took between the belt and her hip. Throwing the strap of one around her neck she held the remaining one as she walked further down the end of the corridor.
Walking past a room Peggy stopped in her tracks as she noticed what looked like a cloak room, hanging on one of the racks was a red cape and a red felt cowgirl hat. As she stood there looking at the items, inside she knew it was time for The Lady in Red to take control and to scare these people out of her City. Placing the gas mask on she put the felt hat on and cape. She was now the Lady in Red
Opening a door Red found herself standing over what looked like the flight deck, but the layout seemed like that of more a U boat and not a airship. Taking the second MP.40 off her neck she pointed the two down as German words were screamed up at her. As the Captain screamed Peggy pulled the triggers on both guns as she aimed for anything of importance. Bullets flew and controls exploded as men screamed for reinforcements.

Midnight had to stop on hearing the Mayor's comment about the councilman leading the criminals. What followed was a brief question and answer session, information that could be gathered might help later on.
"Hanson always had strange friends, especially before the war. He was always asking me and others to meet with people who he said could help with our campaign. Then he set me up to meet the Western Allies of Germany Group, they wanted to find friendly states that would build them support for the Nazis against what they claimed was Russian aggression. When they got too extreme I excused myself from the meeting, Hanson apologised but he seemed disappointed that we couldn't reach an understanding."
After America entered the war in Europe Hanson had seemingly cut ties with his more controversial friends, then after the war he headed up an amnesty program intended to help German military specialists without Nazi loyalties find work in America. Clearly he or his cohorts had falsified backgrounds of enough men to form a crew to evade war trials and then take over the airship.
"Hanson is planting the seeds for his own Reich. Extorting the hostages for funds and attacking the country that helped take down his Fuhrer friend. He probably has a scapegoat planned to blame for the attack and more allies elsewhere to carry out other plans. I'll have to take him alive."
The airship shuddered and banked to port. The detective must have attacked the helm, probably causing enough damage to keep the airship trapped in a circular flight path. That would cause a bit of panic among the Nazis, but Hanson would have to be taken alive to help root out his friends. The priority was the chemical weapon. Captain Midnight pulled open the nearest window and opened his glider wings.
"Shut the window behind me, then lock yourselves in this room. I'm going up top."
He leaped out the window, diving briefly before swooping upwards. With the speed he had built up he managed to land on top of the envelope, using his knife to cut his way inside.

Men fled out the door as the guns redecorated the deck. Jumping over the ledge Red landed on a center control panel and fired her remaining shots as the last of the men exited the deck. With the guns empty she dropped them to the ground and moved to the main controls. Red with a few tweaks of the controls put the airship in to a circular flight. But one control panel took her interest in particular, as Red approached the panel she noticed a layout for the full ship was saying something different and if she read it correct is showed that within the balloon area holding the airship up were more decks. For all she knew this could be more than an airship, it could be a staging platform to laugh an army.
From the power reading meter this Airship had ten times the power needed and all information pointed to that this was not the main flight control deck and she hated to think what might be up there. With out Red touching a button the Airships course shifted back to its original course confirming her suspicion. With that all the power systems to the controls turned off and Red was left standing in a useless room.
Without waiting Red made her way out the main door were guards were getting ready to Storm the room. Without waiting Red flicked out her two Luger's and began to fire. Within seconds two of the men took head shots while another a wound to the lower chest and the fourth seeing the fall of his comrades turned tail to make haste out of the area. Red spotted the wounded guard on the ground grabbing a small glass canister from his pocket and break the glass over his nose. With it he took a deep breath taking the green gas in. Within seconds the guard began to expand in muscles ripping his clothes, when he reached twice his size he stood up as if he hadn't not been shot and laughed at Red. Red didn't hold back as she emptied clips in to him and yet he still approached. As his arm swung Red ducked and dived as she tried to avoid him. Clipping in a second clip to her Luger Red aimed straight for the head as she once again emptied the clip. Finally the man dropped to the ground as the clip emptied given Red a chance a to breath.

Cutting into the envelope was a good idea, given that Midnight had just found an advanced pumping system built into the framework of the airship. From a inspection of several components it seemed that when the tanks were full the contents could be heated from liquid to gas form, then sprayed outside of the ship in a wide pattern. The air and high altitude would cool the gas into liquid form once more to create what was effectively weaponised rainfall. Worst of all there was an empty drum nearby with enough of a sample left over to inspect. "Midnight to Chuck. We're dealing with Venom." "Venom Cap?" "During the war several parties tried to duplicate the super vitamin Miraclo used by the hero Hourman. Rumor has it that several scientists traded their work for sanctuary in -Prisca, they've been working on a very unstable version in liquid form. It provides similar strength enhancements but with a dangerous withdrawal, not to mention the rage inducing affect and hallucinations. Call in backup, tell the Squadron to prep the Sky Nest and bring the Fireball back with them. I'm going to need to separate the gas bags from the passenger areas and burn this stuff up in the upper atmosphere." "Right away Cap, over and out."
As the message terminated part of the walkway separated and seemingly lashed out at Midnight, who managed to dodge aside. As he looked up he saw the metal beam return to position, as well as the cause of the suddenly hostile workings of the airship. Hanson stood further down the airship wearing a bizarre piece of equipment, a vest covered with dials, switches and buttons with a long electronic cable attached to his back. His arms and head had flat metal panels on their sides and a row of needle displays hung from a frame of rods over his head. Midnight hurled his knife trying to take the threat out fast but the panels flipped around forming a 'wall' of sorts before the blade hit. "You'll find I can activate the shields on my control suit faster than you can raise your hands to attack Midnight." He twisted another dial causing the airship to sway, forcing the Captain to try and steady himself. "Plus I can control the airship personally despite the efforts of you and the other intruder." "Hanson. Do you have any idea of what will happen if you release Venom over Manhattan?"
"Not Manhattan. Just the mongrel districts. the Asians, Blacks, Jews. Their subhuman minds filled with rage and their muddy blood pumping this beautiful empowering concoction through their veins. They'll reveal their true colours by rampaging around the city and when they finally weaken the rest of America will follow my lead in ousting them from our nation! Now with a single movement I will rain destruction in the name of the master race." He punctuated his mad rant by pulling a large lever on his suit, intending to start the pumps. Though his face dropped when the vats merely bubbled a few times before groaning and spluttering out. Captain Midnight pulled out a large fuse he'd had in his other hand. "Sorry, took this out when I was inspecting your machinery. Sunny days are here to stay."
"No! Give it to me!" Cap dove off the walkway and spread his glider wings, swooping around the inside of the airship as Hanson screamed in fury. He hammered on switches and buttons as fast as he could, trying to steer the ship and move the walkways to crush the Sovereign of the Skies before he could get away. Always one step too slow however, given that he had to at least try not to hit the wrong control and do something that would ruin his plan altogether. Back down at Peggy's level the room layout switched thanks to Hanson's controls, giving her a newly revealed stairwell to ascend up to the rest of the villains. A group of chemical suited men staggered around, unable to stay stable in their thick suits.
