What's hidden behind the mask:
Personality:
Many have said that Captain Midnight is obsessed with being right, this is because he sees all the bad things that could happen if he's wrong. Despite the outer appearance of a square jawed all American flyboy hero Jim is always thinking and planning, the sheer amount of information and possibilities going through his head at any time would most people without the surname Luthor or Stark. Even on his downtime he is constantly thinking about how he can improve things.
With the war over Albright wants to turn his attention to aiding humanity to rise to the next level, hopefully a safe level after seeing first hand the horrors of the atomic bomb. While others would consider it the stuff of comics and serials Jim is looking forward to the world of tomorrow with flying cars, clean air and an end to the need for armed conflict.
However he is not deluded into thinking utopia will come easily. Albright is also a soldier and knows that some enemies need to be taken down with as much violence as they use while the innocent need protection. After a fight he is always ready to buy the first round for his allies.
History:
Captain Jim "Red" Albright, was a World War I U.S. Army pilot, gifted both in the air behind the controls of his plane or on the ground maintaining and even improving them. His Captain Midnight code name was given by a general who sent him on a high-risk mission from which he returned at the stroke of 12. After the war he continued his love of invention by forming a small engineering firm that soon grew into Albright Industries. At the beginning of the Second World War Albright was recruited to head the Secret Squadron, an aviation-oriented paramilitary organization fighting Fifth Columnists and spies prior to the United States' entry into the War. Answering to 'Mr Jones' the Captain was joined by Joyce Ryan, Chuck Ramsey, Ichabod Mudd, Agent Kelly and Major Barry Steele
When the United States was attacked at Pearl Harbor, Midnight traced weaponry used by the Japanese to designs developed by the Nazi allied criminal inventor Ivan Shark. The Secret Squadron wartime activities were expanded to outside the continental United States, with adventures in Europe, South America, the Pacific, and continental Asia. Other rogues faced by the Captain included Shark's cunning daughter Fury, the blade wielding assassin Phang
and the airship commander Baron Karp. Eventually Midnight battled Ivan hand to hand on the battlements of his Arctic fortress, only to see Shark thrown over the side and eaten by bears.
Back home Midnight became a morale symbol like Captain America, with fictionalised versions of his adventures made into radio shows and comics. Now with the war over the Squadron has toned down operations and Alrbight Industries is focusing on next generation technology to change the world, but all warmongers and criminals should still fear what could happen at the stroke of Midnight.
Other: It would be cool to pair Midnight up with other war heroes, even form an expanded Squadron with other aircraft users.
