It was starting to get late at the library where Peter was studying. A lot later than he was used to being out. When he realized it was starting to get dark, he scrambled to shove everything into his book bag and stumbled over his own feet to get to the door of the library. It had been a late night, and he really didn't want to draw attention to himself, so he decided to slip through the back streets to cut through Hell's Kitchen to get home. Probably not the best idea but it wasn't like he couldn't defend himself if he needed to.
He wasn't very familiar with Hell's Kitchen, but he knew the reputation. This was Wilson Fisk territory, and even if he was out of town, that didn't mean it was safe. It just meant no one was supervising the criminal activity. Every gunshot he heard set him on edge, even if it didn't set his spidey sense off. It didn't take long before his overwhelming sense of duty got the better of him. He affixed one of his webshooters to his wrists, aimed at the top of one of the nearest buildings, and shot. He pulled himself up to the rooftops and traveled across them to make his trip faster.
What stopped him from just running home was the familiar sound of a woman in need. He remembered the last time he let a crime go unanswered, and he just couldn't bring himself to do that. He ran across the rooftops until he found the alleyway where the crime was being committed. Sure enough, there were three mean looking guys cornering a small looking red head. Peter backed away to remain unseen and stripped down to his Spider-Man costume, attaching his second webshooter to his wrist. He brought his mask down over his face and tucked his things into his backpack, webbing it completely shut before he crawled down the wall.
The three men all had different weapons. One had a knife, one had a chain, and one had a tire iron. Spidey took a moment to observe the situation before he called attention to himself and off of the young woman. "Hey! Larry, Moe, and Curly! Didn't your mom ever teach you it's rude to threaten women with knives?" The men turned to look at him, and Spidey backflipped off of the wall to land in front of them in a crouch. "Now, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to-" he was cut off by his spidey-sense tingling. He ducked completely backwards, handspringing backwards and kicking the guy in the chin before he landed in another crouch. "RUDE! All I was gonna say was I was gonna have to take your weapons, but now I'm going to have to kick your butts!"
While the guy Spidey had kicked was still on the ground, he webbed the other two and pulled them away from the girl, hopefully to remove any temptation they might have to try and attack her.

It was later than what Mary realized by the time she began making her way back to her apartment. She hadn’t mean to stay out late enough where she’d be forced to walk the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in the darkening hours, but somehow she had lost track of time. It hadn’t bee her normal blackout episodes, of that she was certain. But still, her errands, which had only been a few to begin with, had blossomed and grown into more and more as the day progressed. In truth, that had been Typhoid’s doing. Unbeknownst to Mary, the second voice in her head could influence her to a point, even when not in the proverbial driver’s seat. All she had to do was send little mental suggestions into Mary’s subconscious and, like an obedient dog, the girl would obey.
Why she did this? Maybe it was on a simple whim. After all, Typhoid did get bored rather easily and she did love fucking with Mary. Yes, she was aware that technically without the little wallflower she wouldn’t exist, but she wasn’t the type to behave all the time just for that little reason. Besides, Mary had lived most of her life behind the safety of thick walls and barred windows. She needed to experience the world and live a little. Maybe that was why she kept Mary distracted enough that she was walking through a very bad part of town later than normal. When the three men began tailing Mary, giving her little whistles and catcalls, Typhoid smirked inside the girl’s head. Was this the danger Bullseye had talked about.
Mary, meanwhile, was quite nervous over being followed. She kept her pace quick and quiet, ignoring everything the men said to her or asked her, having the feeling that they weren’t ones to play nice with a girl like her. She thought she had taken the proper turn, a shortcut Mr. Bullseye had shown to her, but in fact it had only taken her to a dead-end alley, where the only exit was now blocked by the men she was trying to avoid. They all had weapons pulled and were advancing in the slow, menacing way that most criminals did. Mary, not one to fight, did the only thing she could think of: she screamed.
Amazingly enough, her yell was heard…. by a person clad in red and blue. He stuck to the wall like it was nothing and then performed acrobatic tricks she thought only circus men could do. Was that what he was? A performer? Ropes appeared from his hands, entangling the thugs. Mary could only watch in amazement as the masked man made quick work of the three. Typhoid was equally impressed, watching all of this with a little smirk. Well, he was certainly new to New York. They’d certainly have heard about him in the papers. If they read the papers, that is.

Spider-Man was hardly making quick work of the thugs. In fact, he was having some fun with them. All acrobatics, of course. One of the three turned out to be rather ... delicate. He'd only punched him a couple of times, and not even that hard, before he went down. That was a shame. The other two, however, were getting more and more fun the angrier they got. Spidey flipped, flopped, twirled, and dodged out of the way of their attacks, all for the sake of impressing the cute girl. Well, not ALL for the sake of impressing her, but he was a teenager, and he definitely felt like he needed to.
When he felt the fight was going on too long, he finally stuck to the wall and webbed the two remaining thugs to the opposite wall in the alley, firing off a final shot to their mouths to stop them from talking. "And THAT'S how you skin a cat!" ... Oh, Parker, come on. That was horrible. He shook off his terrible finishing line and walked over to the girl, offering his hands to let her know she was safe. "Hey, are you alright?"
The third guy woke up and shouted something unintelligible before brandishing his knife. Spider-Man whirled around and pretended he was losing his powers. "Oh no! A knife! You've found my only weakness!" "Wait ... for real?" The guy faltered, surprised, and halfway lowered his weapon. "Hell no, not for real!" Spidey webbed him and turned his attentions back to the girl. "Sorry about that. You're not hurt, are you?"

Mary blinked, a bit stunned and perplexed as she watched this masked man make quips and jump around, handling the three men like they were nothing. In fact, it took her a bit to respond to him once they were alone… or as alone as they could get, what with the tied up thugs. “Yes, I’m all right. They… They didn’t touch me or anything, if that is what you were wondering. How? How did you do this? All of that, I mean. Are you with the circus?” Upon asking that, Mary felt a bit foolish. It wasn’t the time of year for the circus to show up, and performers didn’t cover up the entirety of their faces like this man did. They didn't exactly fight crime either.
Curiosity got the better of Mary and she slowly approached the men. Touching the substances that surrounded them, she was surprised to find that it wasn’t ropes at all, but a part of webbing. Looking back at the masked crusader, she didn’t see any devices on him that would cause such an effect. “Are… are you a mutant? Is that how you could do this? Make webs out of thin air?” Mutants were…. honestly, Mary didn’t know what to think of mutants. Some of the doctors at the institution suspected that she was one, but that made no sense. She had no powers, and whatever tests they ran on her came back negative in terms of mutations. They said the other woman inside of her was cause enough for being a mutant, but that idea barely held any water in Mary’s mind. Firstly, there was no other woman, and secondly, if there was, multiple personality disorder was a mental illness, not a mutant power.
Typhoid, meanwhile, just watched this man. Something about him seemed off. Yeah, he was taller than Mary, but that didn’t mean much. She got the feeling that he was trying to show off for her, like some dumb teenager who found himself a pretty girl he liked. She mentally nudged Mary to ask a question. “What’s your name?” she asked.

Spider Man couldn't help but laugh a little. "You know, I've never actually considered a career in the circus," he said, truthfully. "No, I'm a lot more like the Neighborhood Watch. Except this isn't my neighborhood. And I don't really watch so much as swing and act." He webbed up to a fire escape and swung around playfully to demonstrate. He let go and did a flip, landing squarely on his feet like a gymnast. Alright, he could see why she thought he was from the circus now. It sort of made sense.
When she went to investigate the webbing, he couldn't help but smile a little. He idly wondered how many people first thought the webs were rope because of how thick they were. No one could think they were spider web. It wasn't what they were used to. And, well, to be honest, he still wasn't used to it either. So her surprise wasn't wholly unexpected. But when she asked if he was a mutant, he was at a loss. Was he? He wasn't sure. He heard somewhere that mutants were born with their abilities, and he knew that wasn't the case. "No, I'm not a mutant," he said. "I'm not ... actually sure what I am, if I'm honest with you." He showed her the small devices under the fabric where the webs came from. "I invented these. I call them web slingers." He chuckled. "I'm brilliant at inventing a new type of spider web, but not brilliant at naming them." He flipped back to the wall behind him and stuck to it, crawling around on it. "I know I can do this, and I'm stronger, faster, I've got better reflexes, but ... well, I'm still not a mutant." He landed near her in a crouch. "Short answer: No, I'm not. But I wish I knew what I was."
When she asked his name, he stood up and puffed his chest out proudly, grinning under his mask. "Why, I'm your friendly, neighborhood Spider Man!" Though .... wouldn't she have recognized him from the papers? He was getting pretty famous with all his daring-dos. Was there the possibility that she didn't know who he was?

“You really do swing around quite a lot. And you are more active than the neighborhood watch. But I thought it was the job of the watch to simply report crime, not actively stop it,” Mary said with a little smile. His antics again reminded her of a boy wanting to show off for a girl, but why would anyone risk their life for her? “I think the police would be happy to have you on their side,” she added offhandedly. Whether they would actually employ him, she wasn’t quite sure, but he would likely have to give up the mask if he did decide to join the boys in blue.
Even with his face hidden, Mary could tell just how unsure he was about the origins of his abilities. His words were one indication, but even with his insecurities about it, the boy could have come out and said out right that he wasn’t a mutant or fabricated some story similar to Captain America. Why he struggled with information like this, she wasn’t sure. Being a mutant wasn’t the best thing to be right now, so his slow answer was…. interesting. “It’s all right. I’m not a mutant either, but I have nothing against them. I wouldn’t hold it against you if you were one. You did save my life, after all.” She wanted to put him at ease. “I think you are really smart if you’re able to make devices that shoot out webbing strong enough to hold you and other people. I’m sure that with technology like this, you could be a millionaire if you patent it and sell it to the right people.” Typhoid just rolled her eyes. God, Mary could really be naive sometimes.
“Friendly, Neighborhood Spider-Man?” she chuckled a little at that. “That’s quite a mouthful. My name’s Mary Walker. And, I do apologize, but I’m new around here so I’m not very familiar with all the local heroes. Would you forgive me?” she asked sweetly. She paused for a moment before her body language took on a different stance and her voice grew a bit more husky as a sultry look developed in her eyes. “Actually, screw forgiveness. You’re a bit too scrawny to be a man, and I think I heard your voice crack a few times. How about Spider-boy?” Typhoid laughed.

"I know I swing around a lot. I've got a theme. Kinda fits in with it," he chuckled. "Yeah, the Neighborhood Watch in Queens kinda sucks, so I thought I'd make life easier for everyone and do what they weren't. And I only halfway mean the beating up of nefarious crooks." He gestured comically to the three guys still unconscious on the ground behind him. "You know, I think the police are actually fans of mine. I mean, they don't super like the webs, because they're a pain and a half to get out of anything, but they've thanked me publicly! It's .... Well, it's the Daily Bugle that doesn't love me."
Spider Man tilted his head to the side, curious why she was try to reassure him that being a mutant wasn't so bad. He wasn't a mutant. The way he understood it, mutants were born with their abilities. He got his as the result of an accident. Though, he didn't really know how much he wanted to tell her about the trip to the nuclear waste facility. Any hint to his secret identity was trouble. He didn't want anyone knowing who he was. Not yet, anyway. "Y'know, I've thought about that, but I don't know that I'd want these things falling into the wrong hands. A lot of damage could be done with them. With great power comes great responsibility, y'know?"
So her name was Mary. He smiled under his mask and nodded. "A pleasure to meet you, Mary Walker." He bowed in a cartoonishly gentlemanly fashion and looked back up at her, but she was different. She didn't look like the innocent girl he was just talking to, but logically, there was no way she could have left and come back by the time he looked up at her. He stared blankly at her, the eyes of his mask narrowing as though he was trying to focus on her. "I mean, you're right, but that still hurtful." He shifted his weight awkwardly. This was the kind of woman he had a hard time talking to, and he was hoping he had some kind of spider-confidence to talk to her. "I didn't pick the name. It was a cage match, and the announcer called me Spider-Man. It just kinda stuck."

Wow, this Spider sure talked a lot. It actually started to get on Typhoid’s nerves with the amount that he kept going. Blah, blah, blah. Like a never-ending stream of consciousness. That knowledge made her knock his age down to just below what Mary’s was. Which meant that he was the perfect age to fuck around with. Typhoid could help but smirk. “Oh come on, Spider. What? You can’t take a little name-calling? Haven’t you ever heard of ‘sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me’? I mean,s hit, you just beat the crap out of a bunched of thugs, can’t you handle a little good-natured jab at you still dealing with puberty?” she smirked.
“You got your name in a cage match? Really? Firstly…. where are one of those? I want to be able to get in on the action. Secondly? Why didn’t you change your name after the cage match? Don’t tell me you’re under some legal binding contract thing? I could probably make the other guy change his mind, you know. For a small price, off course.” She looked him over once again as she talked. His sudden awkwardness around her was practically palpable. “What’s the matter, Spidey? Suddenly nervous? You were fine around little Mary. What made you change your stance when I showed up?”
Typhoid sauntered over to him, a little swing in her hips as she approached, and gently slipped an arm around his shoulder. With the mask and the lack of good lighting, she couldn’t really see through the mesh that covered his eyes, which was a pity because she really did want to get an idea of what the kid looked like underneath. “Don’t tell me I’m the first girl you’ve ever saved,” she teased, tracing the emblem on his chest with her finger. “A young guy like you, dressed in such…. tight clothing? Showing off every inch of your body?” she chuckled, biting her lower lip in a teasing and provocative manner. “I bet you drive all the girls wild in this, don’t you?” she whispered into where she thought his ear would be, drawing herself closer. “You ever been kissed before, kid?” The question was hot and soft, with a hint of sweet shyness that Mary might have added, were she in control. Typhoid however, just put it in because she wanted to see this little bug tremble.

Spider Man felt the jab to his pride and faltered a little, but didn't let his smile disappear from his face. Not that she could see it clearly. "Hey, have you ever met Stick Man? Or how about the Colossal Stone? They hit hard! And they're MEAN!" He was kidding about them existing, of course, but he was trying to get the idea across that she wasn't really getting to him. But, well, she was. A little. "Puberty was SO five years ago, Mary. I'm turning 18 soon, which ... well, is more information than most people get out of me. But I like you. You're fun to talk to."
He tilted his head to the side. What made Mary want to be in a cage match? He had to save her from a couple of thugs. He didn't think she could manage in a cage match. He was lucky he survived, if he was totally honest. If it wasn't for his spider sense, he might not have had as easy a time. "Well, I mean, I got a lotta fans that day. People loved seeing the Spider Man beat the snot out of the Bone Crusher. I started wearing the costume to fight crime, and people recognized me." He shrugged and smirked. "Honestly? I kinda like it. It's easy to remember, it's to the point, and it fits with my theme. I.... Wait." She was talking like she wasn't Mary anymore. What was happening. "Do you mean to say you aren't Mary?" Well, would it hurt to try to fake a little bit of Casanovian confidence? "If you aren't Mary, what do I call you?"
But then she sauntered over to him, and he noticed her hips. Her arm over his shoulder. His jaw hung open a little, but it wasn't terribly noticeable under his mask. "You're hardly the first girl I've saved. You're just the first one that's really caught my attention," he lied. Well, she wasn't the first. But she was the first that didn't immediately run when she was safe. She wanted to talk. It was refreshing. He held her hand against his chest, for the first time kind of relieved for his physical transformation after his spider bite. He had gotten a lot more muscular. It was hard to tell, even in the tight suit, in the dim lights. So he held her had against his chest so she could feel how firm his muscles were. If she couldn't see his face, it was his only way of showing her he wasn't horribly unattractive. "Does being kissed by family count?" He smirked and leaned close to her. "Why? Are you offering me a kiss? The gorgeous damsel offering the knight in shining tights a kiss for saving her?"

Okay, the Stick Man and Colossal Stone joke was kind of funny, causing Typhoid to chuckle just a bit. “Eighteen? Nice. Mary’s that age too. Which, by extension, so am I.” If you wanted to get technical about that though, Typhoid didn’t exist in Mary’s head until she was in the institutions, so she was younger than eighteen. But she wasn’t about to get into that sordid mess. After all, she was liking the Spider, so saying anything about Mary being crazy was a definite turn-off.
“Wait wait wait,” she told him, holding up a hand, wanting him to stop. “Are you saying that you’re a professional wrestler? That’s how you got your start? That…. wow.” Typhoid actually chuckled a bit at that fact. “I really didn’t expect that, but at least it’s better than being an ex-circus performer,” she said, referring to Mary’s earlier guess. “Ding ding ding, give the boy a prize for guessing correctly. No, I’m not Mary. How could you tell? Was it the lack of being scared? The flirting, or the simple fact that I’m completely different from her in every way, save for appearances?” she smirked, giving him a little hip bump. “My name’s Typhoid. Now, don’t worry, I’m not some horrible disease, or anything like that. The boys at where I stayed just had a dark sense of humor. They said Mary was like that Irish woman some years back, didn’t know what she had inside her, so the joke was that she was the new Typhoid Mary. I just took the name to distinguish myself from her.”
Typhoid smiled when he held her hand to his chest. It was a nice sensation, making her get a little closer to him. “Of course I’m offering you a kiss, Spider. What other way could a girl say thank you?” Her voice was soft and warm, with just a hint of a tease, like velvet over steel. She pressed into him, pushing him back into a nearby wall, as her fingers found the edges of his mask and began to peel it upwards. “Don’t worry, I’m not going to raise its more than needed. I sort of like a man of mystery,” she reassured him. Then she kissed him, taking full initiative, and adding perhaps just a bit of fire to the action, warming the Spider’s lips.

Spidey had never really thought of himself as a professional wrestler until Typhoid said it out loud. But he liked the idea. Maybe he should go back to the wrestling ring again. He'd probably have a lot of fun. Now that he was more used to his powers, anyway. He wouldn't use the webshooters. That would be too much of an advantage. Although, that would be a helluva gimmick. Maybe if he could produce a diluted formula that took less time to dissolve, and ... He was thinking about this a lot for someone that had never really considered a career in professional wrestling before this girl brought it up. And she hadn't really even brought it up. It was more of a single comment.
"Well, Typhoid, I'm glad you've got a sense of humor," he quipped. "Though, to be honest, I'm not sure the guys in the white coats were kidding." He wasn't sure how he felt, knowing that this girl had a split personality. Was Mary in there, watching what was going on? He guessed not, if she wasn't aware that Typhoid even existed. That made him feel a little weird about all of this flirting. But, in a weird way, she was flirting back. That couldn't be a bad thing, right?
When she touched his mask, his entire body tensed up. It was a perfectly natural reaction to have, after all. He didn't want just anyone touching his mask, and he didn't know she was really going to kiss him. Besides, she did just admit to being crazy. He didn't know how crazy she was, or what kind of crazy. But when she kissed him, he kicked himself for judging to quickly. The little bit of heat to it caught his attention in the best way. He wrapped his arm around her and held her close, using one hand to pull her deeper into the kiss. It was his first kiss, but he'd often thought about what he'd do. He held her head where it was for just a moment to show her he meant it, but didn't let the kiss linger too long. After all, he'd done the saving, and he didn't want to come across as too expectant. With great power comes great responsibility, after all.

She tried to ignore the comment about the men in white coats. She really did. The kiss helped her do that, even if he was tense. Typhoid smirked, feeling how stiff and unmoving he was, and not exactly in the way she wanted. Was he nervous or worried she’d do something crazy and stupid? Maybe she shouldn’t have told him her whole life story. That would have made things a bit less awkward, but then again Typhoid was never one to give a damn about that sort of thing. But, once the Spider relaxed and pulled her closer into the kiss, she smiled, figuring that maybe she had broken the ice enough and he wasn’t going to call her nuts or a freak. She’d like that.
But then, as soon as it had begun, the kiss was over. Just abruptly stopped. Like he had calculated the exact length a kiss should been from watching romantic movies. Typhoid blinked at that, feeling a bit stunned by it all. “That’s it? Oh boy, Spider, you sure do know how to sweep a girl off her feet. I think I’m going to answer my last question myself. No, you’ve never kissed or been kissed by a girl, and I think I can see why. Your technique needs some serious work. God help the next girl you lock lips with.” Typhoid walked around for a few steps, kicking a glass bottle with her shoe and watched it smash entirely against the nearby brick wall.
”Of course,” she said, drawing out the last word as she spun on her heels. “I could teach you how to properly seduce a lady. Because I’m sure me and Mary won’t be the only girls you save in your lifetime. There may be other ladies out there with higher levels of expectation. You don’t want them disappointed, do you, Spider?” she asked, trying to sound genuine. “We can go back to my place. It’s a very nice apartment not too far away. We can spend the night there without any interruptions and I can teach you everything I know.” Which, surprisingly, or perhaps not so surprisingly, was more than what Mary knew. “So how about it? Interested?”

Spider Man felt his cheeks flush with embarrassment as he listened to her critique his performance. Was it that obvious that he'd never kissed a girl before? In his defense, the last two years he'd been busy with school and this whole superhero business. He hadn't had time for a girlfriend. Not that any of the girls he was interested in were interested in him back. He was hardly Casanova, as Typhoid was kindly pointing out to him. In fact, the few dates he had been on had ended with him deserting his date to chase down a crime. His dating life was hardly a thriving one. In fact, it barely existed at all.
"You know, I have been on dates before," he felt compelled to say. "I just .... got distracted before the ... kissing part." He sort of trailed off toward the end, hoping he wouldn't have to elaborate. He rather hoped it would be obvious what he meant. "And you're not the first girl I've rescued. You're just the first one that wanted to kiss me. I've been at this for two years. Usually I do the rescue thing and go on to the next ... thing."
But then she suggested something he wasn't expecting. She was suggesting she help him learn how to kiss better. Well, she used the word seduce. And that could mean anything, but he was going to assume the most innocent of things and assume she meant only that she would teach him how to kiss better. "So ... what are you saying?" He crossed his arms over his chest, moving to lean against the wall, but slipping slightly on a piece of trash. When he righted himself, he leaned against the wall like nothing happened, trying to keep his cool. "Are you suggesting you'd be willing to give me lessons?" He smirked, trying to be suave. But for the night? He had to think about that. There had to be other things going on on the streets that needed his attention. And it was a school night.
Oh ... what could it hurt? ".... I'm game if you're game."

Smirking, Typhoid cupped Spidey’s face in her hands. “Of course you just got distracted. It happens to the best of us. Really. But as for me being the first girl to ever want to kiss you?” The look on her face showed how little Typhoid actually believed that, but whether it was due to rescuing other girls or not kissing them, who knew? And she certainly wasn’t going to tell. “If that is true, Spider? Then those girls have no idea what they were missing out on. I think with a practice of practice, you could be quite the creative kisser. Every thought of trying it when you’re upside-down?”
Okay, his little ‘keep it cool’ act was cute, and Typhoid couldn’t help but smile a little at it. “I’m suggesting that I give you more than just a lesson in kissing, Spider. I think we could go over the entire playbook, run all the bases… if you get what I mean.”
Having said that, she pulled him into a second kiss. This time it was sweeter and lingered just a little longer than a kiss normally would. She teased him as well, slipping her tongue just past his lips, a smile playing on her own as she tested the waters, wanting to know how game he really was. Once it was over, Typhoid took him by the hand and began leading him down the alleyway. “I promise that you won’t regret tonight at all, Spider,” she said with a grin. Oh, this was going to be so much fun. Pity little Mary wouldn't be around for any of it. But maybe, if Typhoid managed to play her cards just right, the little angel would wake up in bed to a superhero. Wouldn't that be a shocker? Typhoid thought, chuckling to herself.
